DAY 7 . WEEK 1 and 634 miles DONE.
DAY 7 brings us from missoula MT to Butte, MT. Total of 134 miles today with a l climb of 5049 feet and everyone is getting tired. Today was very taxing as we were the last people to leave this morning plus I only slept 5 hours last night, not a good thing after yesterdays long mileage. so we played catch up all day long!! There was a very taxing 10 mile climb of 3500 ft with with an average grade 8-10 percent. Tomorrow should be somewhat easier as we only go 100. Crazy that sounds somewhat short to me. There are some big climbing days starting the middle of next week. I am developing some saddle sores. ): but still think this is a great adventure!
Interesting sculpture in the middle of montana. My granddaughter Sydney would have loved it. She loves elephants!

Hi Ern! Those were some serious tusks on that elephant! We're cheering you on back here in WA! I thought Montana was long going through by car at 80 mph ...so can imagine what it seems by bike. Yes, there is beauty everywhere ...so glad you can appreciate all the variety!
