DAY 1 of ride across america

FINALLY Today was DAY 1 of my ride across America for JDRF via Pac Tours. I'm glad because I was sick of talking about this trip and ready to DO IT! I was joined for the first 30 miles by friends, family and other JDRF riders in Everett, WA bright and early at 6:15 am. Longtime Friends included Ed wong, Gary kelsburg, and Dick Moen. Family Included, my son in law Jeff, daughter Nichole and nephew Bud. JDRF riders included Susan Horst, David Nestvold and Tom Hodge. It meant the world to have them all there and we had Lots of smiles and laughs as we took off into the foggy morning. By the first rest stop (mi 30) sun was bright and shining! Later in the ride was cheered on by my youngest daughter, Stephanie, her husband Kurt and his parents Kathy and Paul Baumann , in Leavenworth where it was 97 degrees! Finally finished up for the day in Wentachee. Only 3,430 more miles to go until I hit virginia on Aug. 9 . I have a great roommate named Tom, from Death Valley CA. Hope he can deal with me! Day 1, 128 miles, avg speed 17, elevation 6165. check!

  2. ps: does Ed really have a mustache now, or is that photoshopped? So if it is the case, Now that Ernie and Ed have one, Dick needs to grow one too. (It is still optional for Nichole)
pps: gentry has started growing one as we speak. what about you Jeff?
